Cute little car we parked next to us while we at Hatta.

I'm not sure I understand the coolness of this motor being in the back.  It reminds me of a Beetle.
We thought maybe Terri's big red parked next to this is would look a little better.

Hatta continues and I'm going to see if I can get more than one picture in this post......

Well it looks like I've added more than one picture but I got two of one picture, oh my I'll have to see if I can get it out.  I'm using Photoshop to do this.  it is much more labor intensive to do than Picasa.  But this will teach me how to use Photoshop also.  I have been told that IPhoto does the resizing also but I haven't found that feature yet.  

 

If you look at the road  and notice all the lights that are one the road.  If your lights in your car didn't work at night you could just drive by the light of the lamp post and do just fine.  I'm not sure why every road in Abu Dhabi has lamps all along every road here but I'm taking a guess the answer would be so that you would see the camels on the road at night maybe???? There is a sign that is famous to UAE roads and I says,"beware of road surprises".  It doesn't tell you what the surprise is, I guess it wouldn't be a surprise if they told you on the sign so what ever the surprise is undoubtingly surprising to the average driver.  

The sand dunes are really very pretty.  The pictures from the car that is going 150klm doesn't do justice to the many different colors the sand is.  
This area is where a lot of sand dune bashing companies take their clients to ride 4 wheelers and such. You can see lots of tracks in the sand.
I'm going to comment on this picture as well..... Do you see the sand drifting on the side of the cement barrier? When we have our shmauls (dust storms) the road is sometimes covered in sand that is going back and forth in the roads.  Kind of like a snow storm,  but not cold. ha

Trip to Hatta

Sam had a planning meeting for the company in Hatta.  I went along to shop for the "Pots" that I so enjoy.  I guess I didn't have enough of them.  We took Terri's Exployer to fill it up with the "pots'.  Trivia question for the day: How many Iranian pots can you fit safely in an exployer?

Still here, just trying to figure out how to blog on a new computer

I've been here a month and have been somewhat trying to be busy.  All the friends are back and their kids in school and everyone trying to adjust to some kind of a schedule.  Me, well my schedule is pretty much what ever I want most of the time.  I'm doing some swimming lessons, back in spinning class and trying to work on my 50 year old mature over worked stomach muscles.  I'm searching for an arabic teacher and can't wait to get out to the camel track.  Inshalla

Ramadan started on September 1st so we are now one week in and three to go.  Since this is my third one I seem to go with the flow.  I would still like to have my water in the car to be able to have a cold drink of water but not possible right now.  The best time to grocery shop is the time when everyone is at home eating their first meal of the day after a long hot dry day of fasting.  I am successful if there is anything left on the market shelves.  Mostly there is a liter of skimmed milk and a box of Kelloggs.  Oh I hit the jackpot last night and got a box of Honey bunches of Oats also. Sam has been in Doha all week trying to get his residence visa for Qatar.  He will be a dual resident in both counties.  He must have to have the company licensed  here.  So as we speak I'm in Doha for a couple of days "hanging out".  I will go back on Sunday morning.  We have two iftar dinners tonight, so no cereal for me.  Inshalla

I have a bunch of pictures to blog but I don't know how to put them on with out using Picasa to do it.  Mac's do not have that program.......GRRRRRR.  So Terri is going to teach me how to something different.  Inshalla

We had our CC cards compromised a couple of weeks ago.  Someone was making a purchase at a Bed Bath and Beyond with my card while I'm here I guess.  Chalk one up for the bank Yea!!!!. The new ones will be arriving hopefully this week.  I've been a little out of sorts for a little while but fine.  Inshalla

My house is coming along pretty well.  I think I should have things the way they are going to be in a week or two.  I need a couple of lamps.  I'll have some pictures for you then.  I gave my Indian curtain man a very brief description of what I wanted on the windows and you should see what he came up with.  Amazing.  I even have a framed picture  hung up. Inshalla

The heat is still up there in the triple digits.  It is hot but you just have to think of it all a full body massage when you go outside and do anything.  Inshalla

My first wedding here......

We were invited to one of the guys at the office wedding. I went at 8pm to the ladies party and wedding ceremony. If you would like to know more about that let me know and I will write you a privite email. No photography was allowed there. Sam then came at 10pm for this combined part where I took a few photos with the zoom, we were in the back of a huge ballroom at the hotel.

This is a Palistinian traditional wedding. I haven't been to a Emerate wedding but I think they are a little different.

The bride was just beautiful.

Lots of dancing and singing and drums and bag pipes, after a while lots of people were up dancing.

One more site, I was riding in the front seat by now trying to not take my eyes off the road. Feeling pretty unsettled.

I thought well I'm hungry, lets eat. We went to a Somalia resteraunt. One big dish with numerous piles inside. Yes Sam is eating with his hands. It had really good flavor and there was no unknown meat and I think it might have been really healthy. The dish rag type thing was made of a whole wheat powder. Kind of like a crepe. But not greasy at all. My stomach was ok for a little while , no learching.

The depth, picture a 50 meter swimming pool with a little left over. Thats how deep they will be.

And it will be dug out one bucket at a time, like this one.
