I'm happy to report that Robbie was there to pick me up at the Milan airport just as he said he was going to. He was exhausted from his week in the mountain in northern Italy riding. He said the whole experience brings him to tears when he thinks of how much fun it was. It was one of the top five things he has wanted to to do in his life. When we left the airport he had one of his friends Costa pick us up and drive us to his house in Varese Italy. It was about 10 miles from the Swiss border I think. It was really green there and it rained while we were there. It was nice though I hadn't been in rain for a while. This park is being spiffed up for the world championships in October. I was learning the new art of walking with an umbrella. There are rules as to what to do when walking with an umbrella especially when everyone on the street is carrying one. I struggled at first with the multy tasking that I had to do , walking, holding the umbrella(and not take anyones eyes out on the street), talking and taking pictures.
The other main reason we were in Varese was to see the "Tour of Italy" race stage that day also. These workers in orange were helping with the major set up and take down of all the equipment that has to be set up and dismantaled each day of the tour. These three workers where talking about me when I was taking pictures with Sam's great camera and Robbie (knowing Italian) said they think your a big time professional photographer. I told Robbie to tell them to let me take there picture and I would make them famous. Oh my they set them selves right up and so here is their claim to fame on my blog.
The "tour of Italy" finish line in Varese. Lots of pink going on here.
